Responsibilities:

1.   Perform the operation, construction, maintenance and repair WORK associated with the electronic equipment in a wide range of communications systems. 2.   Be familiar with and able to work on any part of the communications system.

3.   Be a specialist in at least SDH fiber optic systems, microwave and digital multiplex.

4.   Provide first level and module level maintenance and support for communications equipment.

Experience: Shall have a minimum of ten (10) years experience with recognized communications operating companies, in installing, operating, maintaining and repairing communications and electronic equipment, including fiber optic transmission systems, digital multiplex systems and peripheral power systems.  Experience in other communications systems will be an advantage.

Responsibilities:

i.    Perform Transmission link testing activities of various types of bandwidth  circuits (64Khz,2Mbps,155Mbps,2.4Gbps,etc.

k.   Perform preventive maintenance for Backbone Transmission System, and Fiber links.

l.    Use & perform testing on OTDR & power meters for fiber cable test.

Experience: shall have a minimum of Five (5) years experience in recognized international or national communications operating companies, installing,

operating, maintaining and repairing communications and electronic equipment including SDH Fiber Optics and Microwave Systems and digital multiplex

equipment; shall be familiar with the operation of a PC with an emphasis on windows based programs; shall have a working knowledge of telephone switching and

data communication networks.

Knowledge of outside plant cabling and of other digital switching systems will be an advantage.

Responsibilities:

Provide installation and maintenance for outdoor/indoor telephone and data cables, manholes/hand-holes, terminals and pedestals. They shall also be specialists in Fiber Optic Cable Systems.  The WORK shall include, but not be limited to:

1.         Fault finding and trouble shooting.

2.         Cleaning manholes/hand-holes and performing gas test.

3.         Tracing, measuring and repairing defective lines.

4.         Shifting lines from faulty cables to alternative ones and laying new cables.

5.         Splicing copper cables, including opening and closing splice cases, cable preparation, bonding, grounding and verifying cable count and continuity tests

            from the Main Distribution Frame (MDF) to terminals.

6.         Splicing and testing fiber optic cable, including opening and closing splice cases, cable preparation, bonding, grounding and verifying cable.  Fiber optic

            cable loss testing shall be conducted before and after the splicing to verify the cable.
